Welcome to Valley Unitarian Universalist Congregation!

Love is our Doctrine. Service is our prayer. Justice is our calling.

Valley UU is an open and affirming community that proclaims: Love is our Doctrine. Service is our prayer. Justice is our calling.

In our Sunday services, in small group gatherings and teams, we search for and develop the tools for individual and communal healing, the opportunities and strategies to address suffering and needs in our community, and the courage to change the systems that oppress and harm any and all of us.

We call this courageous love.

We are an “open source” community that promotes a multicultural and pluralistic approach to spiritual deepening.  We honor and engage secular and religious sources as well as the experiences unique to each of us.  We are exploring what it means to be human, to create an interdependent community, and to promote justice.

This is a shared ministry that each of us contributes to, bringing our unique gifts and perspectives.  We offer each other support for life’s challenges. We share our resources and time to help others in our community and we collaborate with community partners, I-Help, VIP and AZIPL, to effect real change, bringing our voices and our concerns to the most pressing issues we face today.  Bring your gifts, questions, concerns, and ideas. Your contributions will deepen our capacity for change.

Sunday services include diverse reflections from our minister or a guest speaker and lay leaders that challenge us to grow spiritually, emotionally and even intellectually. We share music that expresses our spiritual journey and its callings.  Every service invites us to an opportunity for spiritual grounding and centering, and shares a time for all ages that connects our attendees to stories and ideas reminding us of the opportunities and challenges of being human together.

Come as you are, online or in person, and bring whatever is weighing on your heart or inspiring you with joy.   As poet Mary Oliver says: “You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.”

We encourage you to join us after one of our Sunday services for coffee, tea, and conversation. We’re glad you’ve found us!

As you explore our website and learn about our community, feel free to contact us with your questions. You will also find directions to our building. We look forward to meeting you and helping you find what you need.

With faith, hope, and love,

Senior Minister Sarah Oglesby-Dunegan, the congregation, and the staff
